Threat to integral components of democracy

Being completely isolated from eternal influence of all-pervasive media, shaping and re-shaping our views and opinions about whatever happens around - such a perception of individual outlook's formation seems to be quite delusive in contemporary society, oriented on multiculturalism, globalization and inevitable extensive information exchange. Furthermore, dense ignorance of media services  and up-to-date relevant news reviews, based on complete distrust to subjective representation of the truth by "oily-palmed" and mercenary journalists might result in social passiveness in all spheres of life, which could trigger off a series of significant problems in particular country's economical, political and cultural development, to name but a few. Living in era of information technology, humanity is about to be totally dependent on information, which directs our daily activities and enables us to operate at peak mental effectiveness, thus reaching maximum efficiency and getting maximum profits. For this reason plurality of opinion and credibility of media-services has become a matter of grave importance in modern world.

One could not agree more with the fact that free access to various sources of information plays a key role both in private life and in business. Moreover, this information, namely creditability and relevance of this data, determine success or a failure of it's recipients in their activities. Nowadays people are prone to be quite skeptic about work of media, giving preference to particular sources of information, considered to be reliable, which is proved by personal experience. Far from undermining the data, provided by multiply media-services, people from all corners of the world are inclined to use information posted by reputable sources, which is also to be guaranteed by basic principles of democracy adopted in the vast majority of countries. In fact, freedom of media might be included on the short list of contemporary governance's priorities, for limitations of these sphere pose a considerable threat to democracy as a whole, deprive the people of the opportunity to be informed about all current events presented from subjective prospective which becomes a base for further development of personal outlook and of general perception of the world. As a matter of fact, nowadays freedom of press is reduced to some extent, for influential groups of politicians, businessmen or significant financial figures take under control the viewpoints of the citizens about such issues as economic development, political arena of the country and current governance, as well as promote such a perception of events, which correspond to their goals and general ideas. Alternatively, free media would represent the issues from objective side, revealing the root causes of problems regardless their possible negative impact on those with lots of power. Common-place people are to evaluate social events and make their "judgments" grounded solely on trustworthy and factual information, published by free media. For instance, centralized approach to ownership of the media (which might be noticed in the USA, Canada, Italy or China) limits the rights of the people on free access to diverse sources of relevant data, thus narrowing their outlook on events – and that does not seem quite democratic, does it?

To sum up, both the freedom of media and plurality of opinion are to be considered as one of the basic values of democratic society, guaranteeing people to be equipped with relevant and creditable information to base their decisions on. By contrast, any limitations of media's freedom would result in manipulation of common overlook of issues and consequently would threat democratic essence of contemporary society.
